How Steam King handles your personal information. In short: only what is needed to quote and carry out your job, never sold or shared for marketing, and no tracking on this website.

Who we are
Steam King is a sole trader providing pressure washing and exterior cleaning services in Falkirk, Denny and the surrounding area. Steam King is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any question about your information, or you want to make any of the requests described below, call 07393 523260 or send a WhatsApp message to the same number. You will be speaking to the owner directly.
What this website itself collects
There is no contact form on this site, no login and no payment. Nothing you type is sent to us from these pages.
Steam King sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. We run no analytics, no advertising or tracking scripts, and no social media feeds or pixels.
Like any website, the hosting provider automatically records standard server logs when a page is requested. These typically include the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, and the browser and operating system reported. They are used only to keep the site running, secure and available, and to diagnose faults. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not linked to any enquiry.
The map on our homepage and contact page
Those pages show a Google Map of the area we cover. It is embedded from Google, so when one of those pages loads, your browser contacts Google directly and Google may set cookies or read existing ones, exactly as it would if you opened Google Maps yourself. That happens under Google's own privacy policy, not ours, and we receive nothing from it.
This is the only third-party content anywhere on the site. If you would rather not load it, most browsers let you block third-party cookies, and nothing on either page depends on the map working.
What we collect when you get in touch
We collect personal information only when you contact us yourself, by phone or by WhatsApp.
That is usually your name, your phone number, the address or postcode of the property, and whatever you tell us about the job. If you send photographs of the area you want cleaned, we hold those too. If work goes ahead, we also keep the records needed to invoice you and account for the payment.
Please do not send us any sensitive personal information. We have no need for it and do not ask for it.
If you message us on WhatsApp
WhatsApp is provided by Meta, not by Steam King. When you message us there, the content of your message, your phone number and your WhatsApp profile information are processed by Meta under their own terms and privacy policy, in the same way as any other WhatsApp conversation you have.
We can only read the messages you send us, and we keep them on the phone used for the business. If you would rather not use WhatsApp, just call instead.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
To answer your enquiry and give you a quote. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: you contacted us asking for a price, and we cannot reply without using your details.
To carry out and complete work you have booked, including arranging access and a date. Our legal basis is performance of a contract with you.
To keep accounting records for work invoiced. Our legal basis is a legal obligation, as HMRC requires business records to be retained.
We do not use your details for marketing. We do not send newsletters or promotional messages, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
The only parties who may handle it are the service providers needed to run the business: the website host, the mobile network and WhatsApp for the messages you send, and an accountant and HMRC for invoiced work. Each of these handles your information only for that purpose.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, for example in response to a valid request from a public authority.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 12 months, so that we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us, and then deleted.
Records relating to completed and invoiced jobs are kept for six years from the end of the relevant tax year, which is the period HMRC requires for business records.
Photographs of work are kept for as long as they are in use as examples of what we do, and are deleted on request. See below.
Photographs of work
We photograph the work we do, before and after, and use those photographs on this website and on our Facebook page. This is the main way a cleaning business shows what it can do.
Photographs are of surfaces, not people. We avoid capturing house numbers, street signs, vehicle registrations and anything else that would identify whose property it is, and we do not publish addresses alongside them.
If you would rather we did not photograph your property at all, or you want a photograph of it removed later, tell us and we will do it. You do not need to give a reason.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to have information erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object at any time and we will stop unless there is a compelling reason not to.
To exercise any of these, call 07393 523260 or send a WhatsApp message. We will respond within one month, and there is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Keeping it safe
Your details sit on the phone and the computer used to run the business. Both are protected by a passcode or password and kept up to date, and the phone can be wiped remotely if lost.
Because this is an owner-operated business, no one else has access to your information in the ordinary course of work.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. This policy applies to this website and to enquiries made by phone and WhatsApp.
