Driveway Stain, Moss & Weed Removal Falkirk
Not every driveway problem is solved by a standard clean. Sometimes it's a specific patch of trouble, an oil stain that's set in over months, a rust mark from a bike leaning against the wall, weeds that keep coming back within weeks of being pulled, or moss that's spread across a shaded corner faster than the rest of the drive. Steam King treats these specific problems across Falkirk and Denny, alongside our general driveway cleaning service.

Weed Removal
Weeds pushing up through driveway joints are one of the most common complaints we hear, and one of the most misunderstood. Pulling weeds by hand only ever buys a few weeks, because the roots and seeds are still sitting in the gap between blocks or slabs, ready to come straight back. A proper weed removal treatment kills the weed at the root and, more importantly, treats the joint itself to slow down future germination.
We use commercial-grade weed treatment, stronger and longer-lasting than anything available for home use, applied directly to affected joints and gaps. It's the single most effective add-on we offer for anyone tired of the same weeds returning every summer.
Moss Removal
Moss thrives on damp, shaded surfaces, which describes a fair number of driveways and paths in this part of Scotland. Left untreated, moss doesn't just look unsightly, it holds moisture against the surface and can make paths and driveways genuinely slippery, especially in wet or frosty weather.
We remove established moss growth as part of a standard clean, and where it's a persistent, recurring problem in a shaded area, we can apply a treatment specifically aimed at slowing moss regrowth in that spot, rather than treating the whole driveway the same way when only one corner is actually affected.
Oil Stain Removal
Oil stains are one of the more stubborn marks we deal with, particularly where a car has been parked in the same spot for months or years. Fresh oil staining often lifts well with a standard pressure wash and the right cleaning product. Older, deeply set oil staining has usually soaked into the surface pores, especially on concrete and some tarmac, and needs a more targeted treatment to properly lift.
We'll always be upfront about what to expect. Some oil stains come out completely. Others fade significantly but leave a faint shadow, particularly on porous concrete, and we'd rather tell you that honestly before starting than let you be disappointed afterwards.
Rust Stain Removal
Rust marks, from bikes, garden furniture, plant pots, or dropped tools, respond to a different treatment than general grime, since rust is a chemical stain rather than surface dirt. We use a targeted rust removal approach that lifts the discolouration without the excessive pressure that a general clean might otherwise need, which helps avoid unnecessary wear on the surrounding surface.
Tyre Mark Removal
Black tyre scuffs near garages, turning points, or parking spots are common and usually respond well to a standard clean combined with the right cleaning product, since they sit largely on the surface rather than soaking in. Persistent or repeated tyre marking in the same spot, common where a car turns tightly in the same place every day, can need a bit more attention to fully lift.
Targeted, not blanket
Why We Treat These SeparatelyFrom a Standard Clean
A standard driveway clean covers general dirt, algae, and light grime across the whole surface. Specific stains and persistent weed or moss problems are usually more localised and need a different, more targeted approach applied to just the affected area. Bundling everything into one flat "clean" either means paying for full-driveway treatment when only one patch needs it, or not getting proper attention on the specific problem that's actually bothering you.
When you get in touch, tell us what's actually bothering you, whether that's the whole driveway or a particular stain, and we'll quote accordingly rather than assuming you need the works.
Making it last
Preventing Regrowthand Restaining
Treating a problem once is only half the job if it comes straight back. For weeds and moss, we recommend a commercial weed treatment applied at the same time as your clean, which significantly slows regrowth compared to cleaning alone. For staining, particularly oil-prone areas like where a car is regularly parked, sealing the surface afterwards helps resist future staining from soaking in as deeply. More on that is covered on our driveway sealing and restoration page.
Pricing
Stain, moss, and weed treatment pricing depends on the size of the affected area and how established the problem is. A single stubborn oil stain is a different job to weed treatment across an entire block paved driveway. We'll always give you a straight quote before starting, whether that's alongside a full clean or as a standalone visit for one specific issue.

Coverage
Areas We Cover
We treat driveway stains, moss, and weeds across Falkirk, Denny, Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Grangemouth, Bonnybridge, Camelon, Polmont, Bo'ness, Cumbernauld, and the surrounding 10-mile radius.
Commercial weed treatment significantly slows regrowth, but no treatment is entirely permanent. Most customers find an annual or biennial top-up keeps things looking consistently clear.
Fresh stains usually lift well. Older, deeply set stains often improve significantly but may leave a faint mark, particularly on porous concrete. We'll give you an honest assessment before starting.
We use commercial-grade products chosen with safety in mind, and we'll advise on how long to keep pets and children off a treated area after application.
Yes, moss treatment applies to any hard surface, including paths, patios, and steps, wherever moss has become an issue.
Yes, and it's often more efficient to combine them into one visit, since we're already set up and on site.
While we're there
Getting more than one thing done in the same visit usually works out cheaper. Just mention it when you call.
